Surrender the Reins of Senses
to Baba
God
endowed man with the intellect coupled with five sense organs for
pursuing knowledge. We have a fickle mind too, which is the root
cause for both bondage and liberation. We have to gain command of
our mind that yields to the senses. We should only see good, listen
to good, talk good words, eat little and cultivate good thoughts.
As such, when we rein in our senses and drive them under self-restraint,
we attain the Grace of Baba soon. But the sense organs are like
stubborn and arrogant horses.
Provoked by mind, they fall prey to
the worldly desires. We lose the power of discretion to know what
is good and bad for us. Therefore, we must try to put our ceaseless
efforts to bring mind under control. Thus, one has to resolve, "I
will chant Baba's name, listen to the glorious hymns of Baba, have
food only upon offering it to Baba" and live abiding by Baba's
words.
One day Nana Saheb's mind got agitated when he saw a beautiful Muslim woman bowing to the feet of Baba. Sensing erotic thoughts in Nana's mind, Baba gently reminded Nana to put his senses under control which ensures his progress on the spiritual path. Though, to some extent, we may bring our senses under control, yet they keep on agitating our mind. Then, we should pray to Baba to take over the reins of our sense organs and drive our chariot-like body on the path to salvation.
