THE 99 CLUB

Once upon a time......there lived a King who.....despite his luxurious 

lifestyle.....was neither happy nor content. 

One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while 

he worked. This fascinated the King; why was he......the Supreme Ruler of the Land..........unhappy and gloomy, while a lowly servant had so much joy. 

The King asked the servant, " How come you are so happy?"

The man replied, " Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my 

family and I don't need too much............just a roof over our heads and 

warm food to fill our tummies ."

The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he 

sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the 

King's woes and the servant's story, the advisor said, " Your 

Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 

Club."

" The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired. 

The advisor replied, " Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club 

is...........place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant's 

doorstep." 

When the servant saw the bag.......he took it into his house. When he 

opened the bag, he let out a great shout of joy....... wow....so many gold 

coins! 

He began to count them. After several counts.....he was at last 

convinced that there were 99 coins. He wondered, " What could've 

happened to that last gold coin? Surely, no one would leave 99 

coins! "

He looked everywhere he could..... but that last coin was elusive. 

Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work 

harder than ever to earn that gold coin and complete his collection. 

From that day....the servant's life changed. He was overworked, 

horribly grumpy, and castigated his family for not helping him make 

that 100th gold coin. He felt so unhappy all the time.... he stopped 

singing while he worked. 

Witnessing this drastic transformation....the King was puzzled. When 

he sought his advisor's help, the advisor said, " Your Majesty, the 

servant has now officially joined The 99 Club. "

He continued, " The 99 Club is a name given to those people who have 

enough to be happy but are never contented.......because they're always 

yearning and striving for that extra 1....... telling themselves: "Let me 

get that one final thing and then I will be happy for life ."

We too can be happy with very little in our lives.......but the minute 

we're given something bigger and better...... we need to watch out for 

our monkey minds ........ which may want even more! 

We lose our sleep........our happiness......we hurt the people around 

us.......all these as a price for our growing needs and desires. 

So its all up to us.......whether we 

want to join 'The 99 Club' ........or not!

With a Strong Will, it is Easier to Reach Baba

It is said that where there is a will, there is a way. Human life will be meaningful only when one realizes God. Some people needlessly fear that realizing God would mean climbing mountains, walking on thorny paths and passing through troubles. But, it is very easy to reach God. It is enough to have firm faith, love-devotion for Baba's words, patience and persistence. To such pure-hearted souls, Baba would lend His helping hand. To enlighten those ignorant people who deviated from the right path and writhing in pain, caught in the whirl-pool of sins, God incarnated as Baba in this Kaliyuga and made Shirdi His Abode.

While some people yearn to see Baba and reach Him, others, although unaware, heard about His glory and power through their friends, and by getting a glimpse of Baba in dreams, they reached Shirdi and got blessed by receiving Baba's love and grace. Yet, some who came to test His divinity, upon personally experiencing His grace, became His true disciples. The relationship between God and His devotees is more than the bond of affection between a father and the child. 

Wherever we are born and wherever we wander, we have to, eventually, reach Baba's Feet. We should not limit this spiritual relationship to ourselves. We must bring our fellowmen into the Godly fold.

Suicide is Most Sinful

One of the noblest ideals is to protect and serve all beings. When a service is selflessly rendered, the spirit of service grows gradually in us. Our heart yearns to reach God as a first step in the spiritual pilgrimage. However, many people become tense and stressful as a result of their urge to grow healthier, wealthier and happier at any cost.

No one can get what all he or she wants to get in a short span of life. Happy life is to feel satisfied with what one gets and live in compromise. People who have compromised thus will direct their attention towards God. But, some people treat their troubles as formidable hurdles and foolishly decide to commit suicide as they are depressed with their ill-health or disappointed by not getting their desires fulfilled. Here, 'soul' means "self". Killing one's own body tantamount to murder. We have to protect, nurture and reach God through the body which is a gift of God. We have no right to kill it. Baba stopped a chronic patient from committing suicide. We have to bear the brunt of sins committed in the past births, seek shelter at Sai's Feet and liberate ourselves from the bondage to make life meaningful. But, killing one's own self is not a remedy to escape from misery. We should realize that taking refuge at Sai's Feet is a solution to all mundane problems.
